On the literal side, she uses glass plates as the base of her work then sandblasts the glass from the back so it has that frosted look from the inside. Then she adds paint, strips of metal, photographs or slides from childhood and then any little items that might add some meaning -- everything from a bicycle chain to a bent hinge with its battered nails beside it. On the mental side, stirring up ideas and emotions is what Feather is about. Sometimes personal, sometimes universal, she works on common feelings to develop her themes."
